Materials Management Capabilities.Global is able to manage any and all consumer and industrial electronic devices, scrap metal, and other asset value materials in our 50,000 square foot sorting, processing, and packaging facility. This facility, along with our skilled workforce, is able to receive up to 10 tractor-trailers daily, process up to 500,000 pounds of material daily, and sort and process an additional 50,000 pounds of scrap metals for delivery to local metals recyclers. We have six loading docks and six lift-truck vehicles prepared to serve our customers. Multiple balers are also on-site to better manage cardboard and plastics for recycling. Shredders are available as well for product destruction services.
Custody.
Although Global, or its contractors, may take initial possession of materials at the customers' dock, Global takes formal custody of materials upon delivery to the Global facility and subsequent signing of the Bill of Lading by authorized Global personnel. Details regarding shipping logistics and security of shipments is listed below.
Material Acceptance and Tracking. As stated above, Global takes custody upon signing for shipment at our facility. We will receive for processing those consumer and commercial/industrial electronic components, equipment, and scrap metal materials that meet the arranged delivery specification. Devices that contain radioactive components are subject to approval on a case-by-case basis. Global does not receive materials that are in the liquid or gas phase, nor does the facility receive materials that meet the criteria for classification as a hazardous waste, in accordance with current EPA regulations. Global does receive and manage such universal wastes as mercury switches and batteries that may arrive at the facility as an integral part of a consumer/commercial/industrial electronic device.
Global uses several documents to provide for internal tracking of materials at the facility. A shipping Bill of Lading, truck seal, a three-part ticketing system, and shipping and receiving reports are all used to track customer material throughout the facility, to account for products, and to document our process and create a tracking system.
Material Processing and Disposal.Global provides a variety of material processing options. These options include re-sale and recycling options that are primarily focused on maximizing the asset recovery value of the material and disposal. Product re-sale is used upon customer approval. Global works to identify viable markets and will not negatively impact the current markets of the customer. Recycling typically involves some degree of disassembly and/or re-packaging of the product(s). Where the client may choose total destruction of its product, Global is able to issue a Certificate of Destruction to demonstrate that the product will not emerge on the re-sale market.
Global works closely with the customer to determine the best option for that product or material based upon current market conditions and the needs of the customer. Where customer confidentiality is an issue, Global will work with our network of end markets to ensure that the customer confidentiality is not breached. When disposal is the option chosen, Global will assist the customer in identifying the best disposal option for that product or material. Whenever possible, recycling or re-use markets are sought as priorities over disposal of materials.
Inspections.
Global's facility protocol was developed to address the types of problems associated with both the materials Global handles and the equipment involved in its handling. Global conducts daily inspections of our warehouse facility. This inspection includes: housekeeping, fire prevention, hazard communication, walking/work surfaces, storage, security and general warehouse and transportation safety. Exceptions to standard conditions are corrected immediately.
Sub-contractors.
In an effort to better focus on our recycling and asset recovery services, Global has made the decision to utilize local professional services to assist us in our business needs. Global has net worked with several local trucking firms, each uniquely qualified to serve global and its customers. Prior to initiating a contract with any support service, Global conducts a performance audit. This informal audit includes obtaining current copies of: insurance certificates (including limits of liability), permits or other applicable authorizations, D&B ratings, and references. Global may also make regulatory agency inquiries prior to entering into a contract with a prospective organization. In this way, Global ensures that its contractors meet set standards that are consistent with Global's business standards and philosophy.
Transportation.
Global provides nationwide pickup and utilizes the services of local transportation companies to assist its customers in their pick-up and delivery needs. Global is able to arrange transportation for truck-load and less-than-truckload quantities and can arrange transportation within 72 hours of finalizing a transaction. Global recognizes that our transport companies are an extension of Global. Therefore, Global will only utilize the services of those companies that meet our standards and our customers' expectations. To ensure our high level of security, all trucks are sealed and delivered to our Phoenix facility.
Record Keeping and Reporting.
Global uses several documents to assist in its record keeping and reporting activities. Global's tracking system incorporates the generation of shipping and receiving reports, and a three-part ticketing system to track materials throughout the facility (inbound, in-process, and outbound), and a computer-based tracking and billing system that compiles warehousing information with the applicable contract and billing system. In addition, Global retains all paperwork for at least three years.
